The project arises from two real common situations.
The first: in previous years, before iphone apps appeared, we were used to collect a lot of maps of cities and places we visited for journey or holidays. I love maps because they both represent the journey's state of mind and the identity of places. For that reason I always want, when possible, to keep them under my eye at home but the number of walls at home are a finite number...
The second: it happens that an old inherited lampshade can be damaged after several years or can be too old style for our apartments.
And so what to do with maps and lampshade?
Throwing them away in the garbage doesn't sound good to me.
So the idea to dress with maps the lampshade to keep vivid and luminous memories of our personal journeys.
To do that you need vynilic glue, water, paintbrush, shissor and a little of handycraft.

Thank to a bacteria, sand is solidified into a habitable structure that protects from wind and sand. As the architect Magnus Larsson said: "in this way, we can start 'growing' controlled oases in the desert, and stop the sand from pushing people away from their homes and villages, which, in the worst-case scenario, may lead to huge migration floods, food shortages, wars, and other horrible situations". Starting upon a research carried out by professor Jason De Jong's team at the Soil Interactions Laboratory, UC Davis (http://www.sil.ucdavis.edu/people-jason.htm), as well as conversations with professor Stefano Ciurli at the University of Bologna, Larsson designs to flush a particular microorganism, Bacillus Pasteurii, through the dunescape to cause a biological reaction that turns the sand into solid sandstone.

For those throwing his favourite pair of jeans is like mutilating, now a viable alternative. Old jeans and apparel live again with a different shape and use in this chair. What was born for dressing are now revived for seating. Sustainability through recycling. Designer Tobias Juretzek for Casamania.
This chair is made with transparent polyurethane film with high elasticity and ability to return to its original state, commonly used as a packing material. The chair seems to consist of nothing but a backrest and armrests.
Interesting and contemporary the theme of working on material taken from other contexts of use and reducing to minimum the need of joint, assembly and product weight.

The dutch designer Mieke Meijer will be at milan design week 2011's ventura lambrate area with 'newspaperwood' a product
that inverts the traditional production processes. The material is made from surplus of newspapers that are layered in such a way that they produce the effect of wood. It can be cut and treated like almost any other type of wood.

Free-standing bookshelves entirely made in Re-board with interlocking joints.
Re-board is a paper based board, it is incredibly lightweight yet exceptionally strong. It is durable and contains no harmful components and it is form stable. And because it utilising waterbased adhesives it can be recycled as paper in normal waste paper streams.

Structural shelves and uprights will be constructed from 10mm sheet doubled without break, in order to have a total thickness of 20mm. Besides increasing the resistance, in this way the view of the interior in reboard is limited to the maximum, in fact you can see it only to the short sides of bookshelves.
Ripiani e montanti strutturali, sono costruiti risvoltando e raddoppiando in modo continuo un foglio da 10mm in reboard, si otterrà così spessore complessivo di 20mm. In questo modo oltre ad aumentare la resistenza degli elementi si limita al massimo la vista dell'interno in reboard, che resterà visibile solo sui lati corti della libreria.

Challenge: recovering of everyday objects and reinterpreting them to create a new object and a new profile that motivate to protects the environment.
Solution: the idea comes from the analysis of a common gesture, use the wastepaper basket and play at the basket and the attention to the visual pollution of full baskets. A new object, a basket where you play to throw the paper, once the basket is filled automatically fringes don’t hold more paper and you must empty it while maintaining a clean and tidy environment. The name is an ironic transposition of the toilet use. Powered recovering toilet axis, a pair of wall brackets, water pipes and pieces of wire.

Sfida: il recupero di oggetti di uso comune e la loro reinterpretazione per la creazione di un nuovo oggetto e un nuovo modo d’uso che stimoli a rispettare l’ambiente.
Soluzione: l’idea nasce dall’analisi di un gesto comune, usare il cestino per la carta e giocare a fare canestro e dall’attenzione verso l’inquinamento visivo dei cestini pieni. Un nuovo oggetto, un cestino-wc in cui si butta la carta giocando, una volta che il cestino è pieno automaticamente le frange non trattengono più la carta e si è costretti a svuotarlo mantenendo un ambiente pulito e in ordine. Il nome è una trasposizione ironica dell’uso del wc. Realizzato recupernado un asse di un wc, una coppia di staffe a muro, dei tubi digomma per innaffiare e dei pezzi di fil di ferro.

Challenge: to identify the functions and the elements present in some objects that can be applied in the design for a new lamp.
Solution 1: a tripod used in photo shoots, extended like a telescope to reach different heights, becomes the support of a new lamp as needed changes its height.
Solution 2: a basic 3-spoke support a swivel seat becomes the medium of a lamp by inserting an arm moves in an eccentric way to achieve different spaces.

Descrizione: Lampada assemblata utilizzando componenti di sedie e apparecchiature per set fotografici.
Sfida: individuare delle funzioni e degli elementi presenti in alcuni oggetti che possano essere applicati nel progetto di una nuova lampada.
Soluzione 1: un cavalletto utilizzato nei set fotografici, estendibile come un telescopio per raggiungere altezze diverse, diventa il supporto di una nuova lampada che a seconda delle esigenze cambia la sua altezza.
Soluzione 2: una base a 3 razze supporto di una seduta girevole diventa il supporto di una lampada che grazie all’inserimento di un braccio si sposta in modo eccentrico per raggiungere spazi diversi.
Sfida: individuare delle funzioni e degli elementi presenti in alcuni oggetti che possano essere applicati nel progetto di una nuova lampada.

I bimbi crescono e con loro cambiano le esigenze, gli spazi e gli arredi che a loro dobbiamo dedicare. Se avete un lettino con le sponde quando sarà arrivato il momento di smontare una sponda, e vi consiglio di farlo quanto prima, Montessori docet, non portate la sponda in cantina ma applicate alle sue estremità, dove prima venivano inserite le viti per il fissaggio, dei gommini (io li ho trovati a Milano da Milgom) e posizionate la sponda in verticale. Avrete così ottenuto una libreria, facilmente accessibile per il bambino con il vantaggio che la copertina di ogni libro resta ben visibile e disponibile alla scelta.
